Two goals in the opening eight minutes could not prevent Warriors FC from continuing their winless start to the Singapore Premier League campaign.
The home side started the game well and were duly rewarded with two goals in the first eight minutes. First, Warriors captain Fukuda Kento reacted quickest to score from close range after seeing Sahil Suhaimi’s attempt come off the woodwork. One minute later, things got even better when Sahil cut inside his marker and unleashed a precise finish.
However, the visitors were given a lifeline. Volodymyr Priyomov scored from the penalty spot in the 36th minute after Tajeli Salamat was adjudged to have foul his opponent in the box. The Ukrainian scored his second on 67 minutes when he sent a header into the bottom corner, beyond the reach of the goalkeeper.
The closest anybody came to scoring a third for Warriors was second half substitute Shamil Sharif, who saw his free-kick crash off the crossbar. While there were more chances created, nobody could eventually break the deadlock.
For most of the game, you could see that we were the better side. With Behe back into the side, we are starting to create more chances.
After the match, Warriors FC Head coach Mirko Grabovac said, “For most of the game, you could see that we were the better side. With Behe back into the side, we are starting to create more chances.” He added, “The players now need to cut down on their mistakes and develop a winning mentality.
