FA CUP CHAMPIONS

Two first half goals from Clay Mathew Silvas and Daniel Shafiq were enough to see Warriors FC Prime League team beat current NFL Division 1 league leaders Yishun Sentek Mariners FC and lift the Singapore Pools FA Cup trophy.

The opponents pulled a goal back in the second half through Zulkiffli Hassim. They almost found an equalizer in the 68th minute only to be denied by a fine one-handed save from Warriors FC goalkeeper Mukundan Maran.

Having last won the FA Cup in 2008, this win was Warriors FC’s fourth and will see the club become the most successful in the history of the competition.

Prime League Coach Efendi Rahmat said after the match, “I am delighted with the victory and it is good to end the season on a high by winning a trophy. We knew our opponents would give us a tough match and credit must go to the boys for executing the game plan well.”

He added, “I would also like to thank our fans who made their way to the stadium. The support especially in the final minutes was crucial to keep our boys going and see out the game.”
