The resurgence continued for Warriors FC as they won their third game in a row, beating Balestier Khalsa 3-0 at the Choa Chu Kang Stadium.

It was a good performance from start to finish as Ignatius Ang got his first goal of the season, while Jonathan Behe continued his good scoring form by adding another two goals to his tally.

The first goal came 21 minutes into the first half. Emmeric Ong played a one-two with Nur Luqman down the right flank before sending a low cross into the box. Ignatius Ang controlled the ball with one touch before firing it pass Zaiful Nizam in the Balestier goal.

The second goal came from a rather scrappy situation. Despite Zaiful’s efforts to keep the ball out with a diving save, Behe reacted quickest to send the ball into the goal.

Behe scored his second of the evening in the 90th minute. A left foot cross from Shamil Sharif saw the French forward meeting the ball and heading it pass a diving Zaiful.

Deep into injury time, Behe could have completed his hat-trick had he not miskick the ball into the arms of Zaiful.

Warriors FC Head Coach Mirko Grabovac said after the match, “At the start of the season we were making mistakes which cost us. Today, I am happy as the players kept their discipling and showed a winning mentality.” He added, “We have to take it one game at a time. The next match against Brunei away maybe tough, but I want my players to go there and play good football.

A delighted Warriors Captain Fukuda Kento noted, “We won Balestier because my team mates were able to fulfill their roles and play their part. We want to be able to continue this level of performance in every game.”
